How is copyright handled?
In a nutshell, the designers own the copyright on their designs until they transfer the rights. At the end of our contests, we provide a process called "Design Handover" which contains this formal copyright transfer agreement.
As part of the process, both the contest holder and the winning designer agree to a copyright transfer that is stored electronically for future reference (a copy of the design is stored with the signed agreement in our repository).
After the winning design has been uploaded via the Design Handover process and the copyright is agreed to by both parties, the copyright agreement is able to be printed and the copyright is deemed to be transferred to the contest holder.
